Why this place stood out
Plovdiv felt like a city built in layers. Roman ruins, colourful old houses, hillside viewpoints and a lively centre all sit very close to each other, which makes it a great short-trip destination.
For Saki The Wanderer, the most interesting part of a trip is usually the story behind the place: how history, local life, Indian connections, film memories and traveller surprises come together in one journey.

How I would approach this trip
Start with the Roman Stadium and the centre, then climb towards the Old Town and Nebet Tepe. The city works best on foot because each street reveals another historical layer.
I usually prefer a realistic travel style: walking where possible, using public transport when it makes sense, keeping time for viewpoints and not turning the day into only a checklist.
